“Journey” is a unique composition in that it offers a retrospective of the body of work created by Michael Ezra over the past two decades. Each piece is a representative of one or more artist’s series, and many of the images bear a special significance for the artist.
In the bottom row, as a foundation of the Journey (and of the Ezra’s body of work overall), there are three key ‘Horizontal Nudes’ pieces, each also belonging to (from left to right) Triangles, Intertwined, and Women Beautiful / Triangles series, correspondingly – the oldest series among the directional themes explored by Ezra. Solid and singular, they are the bedrock of the composition, the rest of which is formed of dual Reflections. The centerpiece of the Journey is a Reflection on Women Beautiful – a tribute to the elegance and beauty of a human form as the ultimate source of inspiration. The two works on either side of it draw on the two other, more recent series, illusive Levitations and multi-dimensional Portraits in Nude. The final, top row of the images is where the original and the latest directional themes explored by Ezra come together. The crowning piece of the Journey is a Reflection built on Triangles, a work that is visually resonant with the idea of a perpetual nature of creativity. The two works flanking it on either side are Reflections formed on the basis of Horizontal Nudes, with a tribute to a beauty and complexity of Maternity on the left and a gentle take on Intertwined on the right.
Concise, expressive, and strikingly geometrical, Journey is an invitation to pause and mediate on many facets of reality.
